Ron was born in Dorchester.

Educated at an all boys school in Fareham, Ron went to Warwick University, King Alfred's College (now Winchester University) and Southampton University. He holds a Master of Arts in literature - his specialism being 19th century British and American literature.

His early influences were Robert Louis Stevenson, Charles Dickens, DH Lawrence and the Bronte sisters. His favourite novel to this day is Wuthering Heights. Ron also has a profound interest in the works of Algernon Blackwood and Bram Stoker where he finds inspiration for the macabre and the horrific. Influences in the detective genre include Mickey Spillane, Conan Doyle and Raymond Chandler.

Painting and sculpture are of particular interest to Ron who enjoys nothing more than visiting art galleries in the far flung corners of the world. Travel and exploration of places new are of profound interest to him and many of these locations create a backdrop to his writing.

Having once worked in the construction industry and also as a journalist and as an English teacher, he has presented seminars and workshops on creative writing and also taught German and History. At the present time he is a full-time writer.

Writing short stories for a variety of magazines both in the UK and the USA; Ron has now embarked upon full length novels. His first novel, Pancardi's Pride was published October 2008. Reprinted four times; sales remain high and reviews positive.

Ron's second novel has now also been reprinted (A Measure of Wheat for a Penny) and his collection of novella and short stories (Gothique Fantastique) has received much critical acclaim earning him the tag "A Master Storyteller."

His latest novel focuses on the wild and charismatic front man of the American rock band The Doors. (Mr. Mojo Risin ain't dead) simply ticks off the possibility that Jim Morrison successfully faked his own death. Why? - to finally destroy the performing monster he had created. How? - Ron unpicks the logic and adds much of his own investigation to find the real Jim Morrison. Mr. Mojo Risin' ain't dead.
